Daily Fantasy Hockey GPP Picks: 1-10-18

On a two game slate almost everything is in play and tonight three of the four teams are on a back to back so this makes it all a bit more tricky and it especially makes the Toronto Maple Leafs very attractive tonight with Craig Anderson going on a back to back after the Sens got walloped 8-2 last night.

The Leafs

Tonight the Maple Leafs get a Senators team on a back to back after getting smoked. They will be turning back to Craig Anderson who has been getting lit up lately. He has allowed three goals or more in six of his last seven starts and over the course of the season he has a whopping 3.23 GAA. On top of that the Leafs are the only full rested team on the slate and will most certainly be the chalk, however on a two game slate just play the best plays.

If salary isn’t an issue for you tonight my favorite play on the Leafs is always Auston Mathews- Willie Nylander – Zach Hyman. Since it is a very short slate I would image a lot of people are going to leave Zach Hyman off the stack to get a more productive forward in the lineup so maybe even to be a tad contrarian in a high owned situation, include Hyman in the stack. It isn’t a very far stretch to say Auston Mathews is one of the top 5 players in the NHL so he is easily the top play on the slate.

If you want to fade the chalky line from the Leafs a good alternative to the Mathews line would be the line of Bozak – JVR – Marner. I think this line will have ownership as well but they will come in lower than Mathews line, specifically Mathews himself. If you want to make it a full four man stack I would use Jake Gardiner on the blueline.

Jared Spurgeon

One of the top defensemen on the board tonight is Jared Spurgeon and even though the Wild are on a back to back this is a very good spot for him. He is seeing power play time against a Hawks team that is also on a back to back that are very suspect defensively and have a pretty rough penalty kill. Spurgeon has been playing 25 minutes a night and his DK floor has been 2.0 points over his last nine games which is exactly what you’re looking for when spending up at defense.

Jordan Oesterle

Oesterle’s price has rapidly risen to $4500 on DraftKings, however he is still a very good GPP play tonight. He has hit the score sheet in five of his last six games and on the games he has hit the scoresheet his floor has been 4.5 DK points. He has been seeing well over 20 minutes a night including being on the top power play unit, so at his still relatively cheap price if he hits the score sheet he will most definitely pay off at his price.
