Daily NHL Betting Guide – 02/11/23

Welcome to our Betting Guide brought to you by NHL Betting site Betway!
Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2022-23 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via Betway), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on Betway odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Vancouver Canucks (@ DET) ML +119
As I mentioned the other day, the Canucks are playing much better under Rick Tocchet. While the sample size is still very small (6 games), the early results are very encouraging.
In 52 Games Under Bruce Boudreau
- xGF/60 – 2.45
- xGA/60 – 2.81
- xGF% – 46.61%
In 6 Games Under Rick Tocchet
- xGF/60 – 2.75
- xGA/60 – 2.32
- xGF% – 54.26
The market still doesn’t seem to expect much from the Canucks, despite pushing the Devils to overtime, playing the red-hot Rangers to a one-goal game and beating the Islanders since the All-Star break. Today they face a Red Wings team that has lost nine of their last 16 while averaging 2.6 goals for and 3.3 goals against per game. They are also likely to be without Jake Walman, who has steadied Moritz Seider on their top pair and could be without Lucas Raymond, who suffered a lower-body injury in Friday’s practice.
2 unit bet: VAN ML +119
Colorado Avalanche (@ FLA) ML +112
The Avalanche had an ugly showing in Tampa on Thursday, but they’ve played better without Cale Makar than the Panthers have without Aleksander Barkov. It sounds like Barkov will be back in, but if he misses Saturday’s game, this looks like a great spot to get the Avalanche as underdogs.
1 unit bet: COL ML +112 (if Barkov plays)
2 unit bet: COL ML +112 (if Barkov doesn’t play)
New York Rangers (@ CAR) ML +185
The Rangers are riding a four-game winning streak and are averaging 4.8 goals per game during that time. Vladimir Tarasenko appeared to fit right in on Friday night. The Hurricanes are well-rested, and the Rangers are on a back-to-back, which may work against New York. At the same time, they are in game mode, and the Hurricanes could be a bit rusty. Either way, a team playing as well as the Rangers probably shouldn’t be +185 underdogs. And Jaroslav Halak doesn’t seem to be too much of a concern either–he’s 6-0-0 with a 2.16 GAA and .926 SV% in his last six games.
