Daily NHL Betting Guide – 02/24/23

Welcome to our Betting Guide brought to you by NHL Betting site Betway!

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2022-23 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via Betway), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on Betway odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Minnesota Wild (@ TOR) ML +179

The Wild offence has not been great in February, as they’ve scored just 20 goals in 10 games (2.0 GF/gm), but they are riding a four-game winning streak while allowing just 1.25 goals per game. They are a team that relies on their defence and goaltending, and they’ve got one of the league’s best goalies going tonight. Gustavsson has gone 14 of his last 20 starts (14-4-1) while posting a stellar 1.80 GAA, .937 SV% and one shutout. They will face a very good Maple Leafs team tonight as +179 underdogs. The model sees them at +127, so there’s loads of value on Minnesota this evening.

1 Unit Bet: MIN ML +179

Montreal Canadiens (@ PHI) ML +149

Even with a massive amount of injuries, the Canadiens have not quit. They continue to play competitive hockey and have big wins over the Devils, Oilers and Islanders in the last few weeks. Meanwhile, the Flyers have dropped five of their last six, so +149 is a good price for Montreal tonight. These two teams are equally as bad, so the underdog is going to have some value. The model sees the Habs as just +111 underdogs.

1 Unit Bet: MTL ML +149

Colorado Avalanche (@ WPG) ML +102

The Jets’ offence has gone silent recently, scoring just eight goals in their last four games (2.0 GF/gm). Since the middle of January, they are 29th in the NHL in scoring, averaging just 2.32 goals per game. Yet, they are favourites against an Avalanche team that is 11-2-2 in the same span and rank seventh in scoring (3.53). Cale Makar may be out, but they still have a quality top-4 on the back end and look great as +102 underdogs.

2 Unit Bet: COL ML +102
