Daily NHL Betting Guide – 11/08/22

Welcome to our Betting Guide brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2022-23 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via Betway), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets
St. Louis Blues (@ PHI) -115
It’s no secret that the Blues are struggling. They’ve lost seven in a row and will likely turn to Thomas Greiss tonight on the second-half of a back-to-back. As a result, the market is down on St. Louis, making it a good time to buy tonight in Philadelphia. They Flyers (6-3-2) have outperformed expectations but it doesn’t seem sustainable. They have the third-worst xGF% (39.5) in the NHL but have rode an incredible .930 SV% through the first month of the season. Greiss has been solid for the Blues, posting a .915 SV% in three appearances, so I’m not too concerned about the back-to-back. This is a desperate hockey team vs. a bad team at a good number.
1 Unit Bet: STL ML -115
New York Islanders (@ NYR) +152
The Islanders are playing great right now, winning six of their last seven games. The Islanders offence has been humming, thanks to a bounce-back season from Mathew Barzal. Meanwhile, the Rangers are still searching for offence, ranking 27th in the NHL in goals per game (2.73). They’re also on a back-to-back but Semyon Varlamov has had success against the Rangers since joining the Islanders, posting a .918 SV% in 12 starts against them since 2020. The back-to-back presents great value on the Islanders at +152, the model sees them at +114.
