Welcome to our Betting Guide brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2022-23 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via Betway), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Colorado Avalanche (vs. NSH) -167
The Avalanche are banged up right now. Valeri Nichushkin had ankle surgery and is out for one month, Bowen Byram is week-to-week, and Samuel Girard is day-to-day. They’re still winning games, though, and a are coming off of a dominant performance in Finland. Through their first 11 games, they haven’t been their dominant selves, ranking 23rd in the NHL in xGF% (47.4), but the Predators have been a nightmare. They’re coming off of an ugly loss in Seattle and 3-7-1 in their last 11 games while averaging 2.5 goals for and 3.8 goals against. Nashville has a huge issue right now. They’re 27th in the NHL in xGA/60 (3.53), and their goaltending is struggling, sitting 23rd in SV% (.895). The Avalanche are -167 favourites, but the model sees them as much heavier favourites (-251) and a great bet on Thursday.
2 Unit Bet: COL ML -167
