Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2022-23 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via Betway), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets
Tampa Bay Lightning (vs. DAL) -127
The line opened with the Stars around +144, but the news of Brian Elliott starting in goal saw significant movement towards the Stars, who are not +115. It seems like an overreaction, and the model now sees value on the Lightning at -127. Elliott has proven to be more than capable in the Lightning crease, ranking 15th in the NHL in GAA (2.58) and t-29th in SV% (.909) since joining them last season. Tampa is also 8-2-0 in their last 10 meetings with Dallas.
1 Unit Bet: TBL -127
Minnesota Wild (@ NSH) -104
The Predators are coming off of a win over the Rangers on the weekend, but they were absolutely dominated in the contest. It’s been a theme for them this season, as they sit 25th in the NHL in xGF% (46.23) while the Wild are 11th (52.14). On paper, this looks like a mismatch, yet the line (MIN -104) suggests it’s a toss-up. The model sees Minnesota as -124 favourites and like a bet on the road team tonight. The Wild are a strong 5-2-1 on the road so far this season.
2 Unit Bet: MIN -104
