Daily NHL betting guide: April 2

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets
St. Louis Blues (@ CGY)
The Blues got off to a terrible start in Edmonton last night but nearly came all the way back and won, eventually losing in overtime. The model likes them again tonight, mostly due to the fact that they are massive underdogs (+213). The back-to-back is built into the line and Ville Husso should get the nod after replacing Jordan Binnington yesterday and guiding the comeback. The Flames also don’t appear to be at the tippy top of their game at the moment, losing two straight while scoring just three goals. The Blues are good enough to pull off a +213 upset tonight.
1 Unit Bet: STL +213

Columbus Blue Jackets (@ BOS)
It’s a lot more difficult to get behind the model with this one. The Blue Jackets have lost five in a row while being outscored 21-to-11. Meanwhile, the Bruins have won five of their last six while averaging 4.7 goals per game–their only loss was to the Maple Leafs.
Yaremchuk’s Picks
Yaremchuk’s Pick – Dallas in regulation vs San Jose (+100)
The Stars have won five of their last six games and tonight they get to face a Sharks team that’s coming off back-to-back losses. The Stars are rested and that should mean at Jake Oettinger start, which would make me like this bet even more.
Yaremchuk’s Prop – Auston Matthews over 0.5 assists (-110)
Matthews has hit this bet in three straight games and six of his last seven and tonight, the Leafs are taking on a Flyers team that gave up 15 goals against in their last three games. The Leafs should get the offense going tonight.
