Daily NHL betting guide: April 22

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Arizona Coyotes (vs. WSH)
The Coyotes have lost eight in a row, so trusting them, even at +331 is proving to be risky. They’re in tough tonight vs. a Capitals team that has won six of their last eight while averaging an impressive 5.0 goals for and 3.4 goals against per game.
Yaremchuk’s Pick – Minnesota + Washington regulation parlay (+129)
Thanks to another strong night, the record on the year is now up to 163-148-3. Up just about nine units. Tonight, it’s a quiet night in the NHL but favourites have been ROLLING as of late and I think that trend continues tonight. I’m not worried about the Wild playing in the second of back-to-back games because they’re staying on home ice and they’re 28-7-2 at home this season. The Kraken have won three in a row but those all came at home and they are not a good road team. Minnesota also has two high-end goalies, so that will help them in their second straight game. As for the Capitals, they’re coming off an OTL but are 6-3-1 in their last ten games. They have a lot to play for right now as a regulation win would put them back into a dead tie with the Pittsburgh Penguins for third in the metro. I don’t think they’ll let these points slip against a Coyotes team that has won just once in their last ten.
YYaremchuk’s Prop – Evgeny Kuznetsov assist (-120)
Bless Jeff Skinner for coming through with a juicy +185 assist yesterday! Too bad Claude Giroux couldn’t pick one up and complete the sweep last night. Tonight though, I like going with Kuznetsov. Not a crazy payout or anything, but he has six assists in his last five games and is up to 53 on the season. He’s hit this mark in four of his last five and seven of his last ten. I’ll take -120 here considering it’s a good matchup.
