Daily NHL betting guide: April 5

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets

Ottawa Senators (Team Total) Under 3.5 (-157)

The Senators’ offence woke up in a home-and-home series with the Red Wings but had been relatively dormant leading up to that two-game series. Tonight they face a Montreal team that has given up 18 goals in their last four games (4.5 GA/gm) but they’ve limited the Senators in both meetings this season. Ottawa has just two goals in two games against Montreal and the model likes them under 3.5 goals again tonight.

OTT TT Under 3.5 (-157)

Yaremchuk’s Picks

Yaremchuk’s Pick – Oilers/Hurricanes regulation parlay (+192)

The Oilers have been doing a great job of beating up on sub-par teams recently. Tonight, they’re taking on a Sharks team that’s lost three in a row and have just three wins in their last ten. The Oilers have also beaten the Sharks twice in the last two months. The Hurricanes are taking on the Sabres, who just lost the Panthers on Sunday. The Canes are just 4-3-3 in their last ten games and are coming off a loss to the Wild, but they’ve had two days off so they’re a rested group and that should also mean that Freddie Andersen is starting and he’s allowed just nine goals in his last five starts. This parlay is juicy, but I like it.

Yaremchuk’s Prop – Connor McDavid over 1.5 pts (-115)

Connor McDavid has been putting up nothing but multi-point games recently. The run he’s currently on is insane. He’s hit this mark in three straight and also 11 of his last 13 games. Want to go even further back? He’s hit this in 15 of his last 19 games. Wild stuff from #97. The Sharks have also allowed 14 goals in their last three games. That’s a higher number. I love taking McDavid to roll tonight.
