Daily NHL betting guide: April 6

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Lines to Watch 👀

Washington Capitals (vs. TBL)

The Capitals have lost four of their last six games and come into Wednesday’s game as +128 home underdogs. The model sees them closer to +111, so it sees value in the Capitals if you can find them closer to +135. They have lost both of their first two meetings vs. the Lightning this season but both were one-goal games.

It’s worth noting that Tampa Bay has lost five of their last nine (4-5-0) road games while averaging just 2.40 goals per game.

Yaremchuk’s Picks

Yaremchuk’s Pick – Calgary -1.5 vs Anaheim

The Flames have been fighting through injuries for a bit, but this is a great spot for them. Anaheim has won once in their last 13 games and it came against the Coyotes. In that span of 12 losses, they failed to cover the puck line in six of them. They’re also coming off a 6-1 loss against the Oilers. The Flames are very good and even though they’re just 5-3-2 in their last ten, I like them to cover tonight. I will also be betting the Blues -1.5 vs Seattle, but only if Ville Husso gets the call between the pipes.

Yaremchuk’s Prop – Robert Thomas over 0.5 assists (+115)

Thomas has been an assist machine this season and I was stunned to see this number where it is. Thomas has six assists in his last five games and has hit this mark in five of his last six games. The Blues are also playing the Kraken so this is a great matchup. I’m also taking Brandon Saad at +180 to grab an assist. This has also hit in four of the last five and the payout is too good to ignore.
