Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Yaremchuk’s Picks

Yaremchuk’s Pick – Florida + Colorado in regulation (+157)

Alright, let’s start the weekend off with a little parlay action. I think the Panthers should roll over the Sabres tonight. Even though betting against Buffalo has been tricky as of late the Panthers appear borderline unbeatable. If the Sabres can keep the Panthers under five goals I’d be stunned. The Avs are taking on the Jets as well tonight and the Jets haven’t looked very motivated as of late. The Avs on the other hand have won five in a row. I thought about playing this safe and just taking the Avs moneyline instead but it’s Friday, let’s live a little!

Yaremchuk’s Prop – Claude Giroux over 0.5 assists (+105)

Giroux has hit this mark in five of his eight games since joining the Panthers and with a good matchup tonight, I think he can hit it again. Like I said earlier, the Panthers should be able to score tonight considering they put up five on this same Sabres team back on Sunday. I’m also taking Sam Bennett at +180 to grab an assist as well. He’s hit this mark in three of his last five and has a total of five assists in that span. It feels like the only games where he doesn’t get an assist are the games where I bet on him but let’s see if that changes tonight.
