Daily NHL betting guide: December 7

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Brock Seguin’s Picks
Lines to Watch
The model is not suggesting any bets at the moment but there are two lines to keep an eye on.
St. Louis Blues (vs. FLA)
The Blues are without Jordan Binnington, but Ville Husso has filled in admirably. In six starts, Husso has gone 3-2-1 with a 2.33 GAA and .929 SV%. The Panthers are expected to get Aleksander Barkov back tonight and that should be enough to move this line into the “Recommended Bet” territory for the Blues. If St. Louis gets to +140, the model likes that value. However, make sure Robert Thomas (questionable) is available.
Carolina Hurricanes (@ WPG)
The Hurricanes have hit a bit of a slide, losing five of their last seven games. They start a five-game road trip tonight in Winnipeg and the sportsbooks have this as a toss-up game. The model sees the Hurricanes as slight favorites (-121) and recommends a bet if you can find them at +101 or better.
Tyler Yaremchuk’s Picks
Recommended Bet
Yaremchuk’s Pick: CGY in regulation vs. SJS (+110)
The Flames have been one of the best road teams in the NHL this season, with a record of 11-3-2. They also come into this game with seven wins in their last 10 games. I’m surprised the line is set where it is, considering the Sharks have been very average on home ice with a record of 5-5-0. San Jose is also 24th in the league in GF/GP and the Sharks might have to go up against Jacob Markstrom tonight. I like the Flames to win this game and I’m getting a little greedy taking them in regulation.
Yaremchuk’s Prop: Hedman over 0.5 assists at MTL (-105)
Usually, I like these assist props to be on the plus money side of things, but Hedman is in a great spot tonight. The Lighting are big favorites in their matchup against the Habs and Hedman has been rolling with six assists in his last four games. Hedman logs a ton of minutes and plays PP1 for the Lightning, who get to go up against a bad Canadiens PK tonight. I like Hedman to keep up his assist streak tonight.
RECORD ON THE YEAR: 52-32-2 (+15.4 units)
