Daily NHL betting guide: February 10

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Model’s Picks

Recommended Bets

Colorado Avalanche (vs. TBL)

The Avalanche will resume their post All-Star break schedule vs. the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions, who are expected to get Nikita Kucherov back on Thursday. The Avalanche are -109 favourites, even without Nathan MacKinnon (face/concussion), but the model views them as -140 favourites. There’s enough value there to bet the Avalanche in the game of the night.

1 Unit Bet: COL -109

Calgary Flames (vs. TOR)

The Flames are on the tail-end of a back-to-back after a dominant win over the Golden Knights last night. They’ve been solid in back-to-backs this season, going 4-2-1 in the second half. They’re also in the middle of an incredible stretch on home-ice, winning four in a row while outscoring their opponents 19-to-2. The Flames have not been hesitant to go to Jacob Markstrom on back-to-back nights and if they elect to do that tonight, that makes this play even more appealing.

1 Unit Bet: CGY +116

Tyler Yaremchuk’s Picks

Game Pick

Washington -1.5 vs Montreal (+115)

The Capitals have dropped two straight and have just four wins in their last 10, but they are in a very nice spot tonight against a Canadiens team that has just one win in their last 10 games. Yes, they could very well get a bump from having new Head Coach Martin St. Louis behind the bench, but I just don’t think it will be enough. Give me a plus money payout on the Capitals to win by two or more. I’m also taking Columbus on the moneyline against Buffalo, as I explained on The Daily Faceoff Show.

Prop Pick

Gustav Nyquist over 0.5 assists (+180)

Nyquist is on a four-game point streak that has seen him put up four assists in that span. He’s getting top-line minutes and I think the Blue Jackets should be able to keep their offense going tonight against a Sabres team that has allowed an average of 3.5 goals against per game over their last 10.
