Daily NHL betting guide: February 22

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Model’s Picks
Recommended Bets
The model is not recommending any bets on Tuesday. It is closest on the Blue Jackets at +217, but with J-F Berube starting again, it’s probably best to stay away from that one regardless.
BONUS Bet:
PHI/STL Over 6.5 (+107)
After winning back-to-back games at the end of January and start of February, the Flyers have dropped five straight since. Even with the losses piling up again, their offence has been solid. They’re averaging 3.1 goals for and 4.0 goals against per game over that stretch. Five of those seven games have gone over 6.5 goals.
Tonight they host a Blues team that has won three of their last four while scoring 18 goals (4.5 per game). Tonight they will turn to Jordan Binnington, who has allowed 18 goals against in his last three starts and has given up at least three goals in 12 of his last 15 games.
There’s a pretty good chance that this turns into a high-scoring game.
1 Unit Bet: PHI/STL Over 6.5 (+107)
Yaremchuk’s Picks
Game Pick: St. Louis puck line vs Philadelphia (+115)
Ah, it was a rough one yesterday. The Flyers managed to keep it close and bring it to overtime vs Carolina, which was certainly unexpected. Tonight, I like the Blues to get a big win vs. the Flyers though. The Blues are 3-1-1 in February and have covered the puckline in each one of those wins. The Flyers have also not been good in the second half of back-to-back games this season with just two wins in eight games. The Blues looked good in their win over Toronto and I think they’ll win again tonight.
Prop Pick: Kevin Fiala over 0.5 assists (+130)
I have gone to this prop a few times this season and I like it again tonight. He’s hit this in three of his last five games and seven of his last 10. So it’s been hitting at a 70% rate recently and we’re still getting a good payout at +130. The Wild scored seven goals against Edmonton over the weekend and I think they can keep their offense rolling against Ottawa.
