Daily NHL betting guide: February 23

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

BONUS Bet:
Cole Caufield Over 0.5 Goals (+205)
Caufield has turned his season around under new head coach Martin St. Louis. Under Dominique Ducharme, he had just one goal in 30 games while averaging 2.5 shots per game. Since St. Louis took over, Caufield’s usage has skyrocketed and the goal production has followed. Caufield has scored in four of the six games and has five goals total in that span.
At +205, you’re getting plenty of value to have a little fun with Caufield staying hot. He’s got a great matchup vs. Craig Anderson and the Sabres–Anderson has gone 1-3-0 while allowing 16 goals with an .879 SV% in four starts in February.
1 Unit Bet: Caufield Over 0.5 Goals (+205)
Yaremchuk’s Picks
Game Pick: Buffalo vs Montreal over 6.0 goals (-125)
The Sabres have been playing in a lot of high-scoring games recently. The over is 5-1-1 so far this month for them. As for the Habs, the over hasn’t been hitting at quite the same clip but it is 4-3 so far in February. I think these two teams will put up enough offense tonight to make the over a solid play. Neither has great goaltending and they combined for eight goals when they met a few weeks ago.
Prop Pick: Alex Tuch over 0.5 assists (+105)
Another loss last night when it comes to the prop betting department but I’m hoping Alex Tuch can bring me out of the losing streak tonight. He has a plus money payout despite the fact that he has a total of six assists in his last five games and has hit this mark in four of his last five games. Like I said above, the Sabres should get some goals tonight and I like Tuch’s chances of being involved.
