Daily NHL betting guide: February 25

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Model’s Picks

Recommended Bets

The model and the sportsbooks appear to be in lockstep on Friday, as it’s not suggesting a bet for the third straight day. We hit our Cole Caufield Over 0.5 Goals (+205) on Wednesday and Sam Bennett Over 0.5 Goals (+168) on Thursday, so let’s see if we can hit another prop tonight!

BONUS Bet:

Viktor Arvidsson Over 0.5 Goals (+198)

Arvidsson is a key part of one of the best lines in the NHL. The average fan may not be aware just how good Arvidsson, Phillip Danault and Trevor Moore have been this season, but they are averaging over over 43 scoring chances/60, which is among the best rates in the entire league.

Arvidsson has been great as of late, scoring nine goals with 11 assists (20 points) in his last 19 games. His shot volume is among the best in the NHL, averring 4.0 shots per game over that stretch and 4.9 over his last 10 games. That kind of volume gives him plenty of chances to cash in at +198 again tonight.

1 Unit Bet: Arvidsson Over 0.5 Goals (+198)

Yaremchuk’s Picks

Game Pick: Vegas puck line vs Arizona (-120)

I was red hot last week but have cooled right off this week. Not great! Looking to head into the weekend on a high note though and I like Vegas to roll tonight. The Golden Knights are just 3-2-1 in February but they covered the puck line in each of those wins. The Coyotes are 3-4-0 in the month of February and have actually been playing some decent hockey this month but for whatever reason, they’re worse at home than they are on the road. I think Vegas will pick up the win tonight and I have no problem playing the puckline. I’m also parlaying Carolina and St. Louis tonight, which I explained on The Daily Faceoff Show.

Prop Pick: Jack Eichel over 0.5 assists (-120)

Eichel picked up two points in the team’s last game and he actually has assists in two of his three games so far with Vegas. Last game he also picked up five shots on goal, so I think he’s starting to shake off any rust he may have had. I like him to grab an assist tonight and I suspect that we won’t be getting Eichel at this price for very long.
