Daily NHL betting guide: January 27

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Model’s Picks

The model and the betting market are in lockstep tonight, so the model is not suggesting any bets on Thursday.

Tyler Yaremchuk’s Picks

Game Pick

Rangers Puck Line vs. Blue Jackets (+120)

The Blue Jackets got SMOKED last night by the Calgary Flames and that was with their starter Elvis Merzlikins in net. They gave us 62 shots on goal in the game and unless they’re significantly better defensively tonight, I don’t think they stand much of a chance against a Rangers team that’s been averaging 3.45 goals per game in the month of January. The Rangers are also 8-3 this month and have covered the Puck Line in six of those wins. I’m also playing a Lightning/Penguins Money Line parlay tonight which I’ll explain on The Daily Faceoff Show.

Prop Pick

Andrei Svechnikov Over 0.5 assists at Ottawa Senators (+100)

Svechnikov has been on an absolute roll recently. Not only is he on a five-game assist streak, but he has a total of eight apples in that span. The Canes have been averaging the third-most goals for in the NHL this month and they should be able to keep the offense going against a Senators team that has allowed the sixth-most goals against per game in the league this season. I like Svechnikov to get on the scoresheet with an assist tonight.
