Daily NHL betting guide: March 16

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Seattle/Tampa Bay Under 6.0 (-110)

The Lightning will be closing out a six-game road trip tonight, a trip that has not been all that kind to them. They are 2-3-0 while scoring just 2.8 goals per game in the first five games of the trip. They have a great matchup tonight in Seattle, the Kraken have lost 11 of their last 13 while averaging just 2.5 goals per game. With both teams’ offences struggling, this looks like a prime spot for the under. Andrei Vasilevskiy should be able to keep the Kraken off of the scoreboard and the Lightning offence would likely need to explode for the over to hit. In their first meeting of the season, the Lightning won 3-0. I expect a similar result tonight.

SEA/TBL UN 6.0 (-110)

Yaremchuk’s Picks

Yaremchuk’s Pick – Calgary/Tampa Bay regulation parlay (+145)

I love the payout here on the ever-popular regulation parlay. The Flames are 5-2-1 this month and are on home ice tonight to face a Devils team that just played last night against Vancouver. The Devils have won three of their last five games, but the Flames are unreal on home ice with a record of 18-5-5. The Lightning are in Seattle where the Kraken have a record of 10-17-3. It’s been a rough road trip for the Lightning but Andrei Vasilevskiy appeared to have snapped out of his slump with a great performance against Vancouver on Sunday. They had a few days off and should be ready to stomp Seattle.

Yaremchuk’s Prop – Gustav Nyquist over 0.5 assists (+175)

The Blue Jackets forward has four assists in his last five games and has hit this mark in back-to-back contests. I like him to do it again tonight as Columbus rolls into Ottawa to take on a Senators team that has allowed a total of 11 goals against in their last two games.
