Daily NHL betting guide: March 22

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets
Columbus Blue Jackets (@ PIT)
The Blue Jackets are largely intact after the trade deadline, only moving Max Domi out. The main concern for them is Elvis Merzlikins, who is expected to miss some time. That was announced on Monday though, so it’s factored into the line (+278). That’s a pretty outrageous line for a team that has won four of their last five while averaging 4.0 goals per game. They’ve also won eight of their last 11 road games.
The Penguins are also playing great right now, winning four of their last five and seven of their last 10 (7-2-1). Still, as +278 underdogs, there’s enough value to take a shot on Joonas Korpisalo and the Blue Jackets tonight.
1 Unit Bet: CBJ +278
Arizona Coyotes (vs. SEA)
The model loves the Coyotes, that is no secret. But this is a nice spot for them. They’re in a coin-flip matchup (-104) according to the sportsbooks but the model sees them as -139 favourites. The Kraken completely dismantled their roster before the trade deadline, while Arizona only moved Riley Nash out. For once, the Coyotes actually look like the deeper team.
1 Unit Bet: ARI -104
Proceed with Caution ⚠️
Vegas Golden Knights (@ WPG) & Nashville Predators (@ LAK)
Both teams are on back-to-backs. Vegas is still extremely banged up. Nashville will likely be going with David Rittich after Juuse Saros started last night.
Yaremchuk’s Picks
Yaremchuk’s Pick – New York Rangers -1.5 vs New Jersey Devils (+175)
After a brief trade deadline hiatus, Im back with my picks for the night. I’m really digging the Rangers in this one. They’re 7-3-0 in their last ten and they’ve covered the puck line in five of those wins. The Devils are allowing 3.67 goals against per game so far this month, which is bottom ten in the league. I think the Rangers should roll here, just waiting for Shesterkin to start before I make the bet. I’m also rolling with the Penguins -1.5 vs the Blue Jackets. Joonas Korpisalo is starting tonight and he’s allowed 11 goals in his last three appearances despite only facing 49 shots. I’ll bet against that all day.
Yaremchuk’s Prop – Mika Zibanejad over 0.5 assists (+120)
The Blue Jackets forward has four assists in his last five games and has hit this mark in back-to-back contests. I like him to do it again tonight aHe’s only hit this mark in two of his last five games but the Rangers should be able to score tonight. The Devils haven’t been great at keeping pucks out of their net and the Zibanejad gets plenty of powerplay time as well as top-line minutes. I like the plus money value here. I also like Jeff Carter over 0.5 assists at +200. The Penguins’ offence should have no problems tonight and Carter has assists in four of his last six games. Lots of action on this slate tonight.
