Daily NHL betting guide: March 23

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Yaremchuk’s Picks
YaremYaremchuk’s Pick – Toronto vs New Jersey over 7 (+115)
After a split yesterday, we’ll look to rack up some wins tonight and I’m targeting a pair of totals. The Maple Leafs are taking on a Devils team that just played last night and had a total of 12 goals in the game. The Devils have had seven or more total goals in four straight games and six of their ten games this month. The Leafs have seen this total hit in six of their nine games this month. Mrazek vs Gillies could be the starting goalie matchup and that should mean goals galore. I’m also taking the over in Anaheim vs Chicago. It’s set at an even six and paying -115. It very well could be John Gibson (19 GA in last five starts) vs Kevin Lankinen (19 GA in last five starts) between the pipes and both of these teams have seen the over hit in three of their last five.
Yaremchuk’s Prop – Michael Bunting over 0.5 assists (+140)
The Leafs should score tonight and I think getting a top-line player at +140 to get an assist is good value. Bunting has only hit this mark in two of his last five games but he did start the month with a five-game assist streak. This has hit in six of his last ten games and two of the games he missed were games that Auston Matthews was suspended for.
