Daily NHL betting guide: March 24

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
NHL MODEL PICKS
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets
NY Islanders/Red Wings — Over 5.5 (-119)
The Red Wings have been playing in outrageously high-scoring games since the beginning of February. In 17 games, they’ve averaged 3.4 goals for and 4.6 goals against per game–for an average of 7.9 total goals.
Seeing the over/under at 5.5 seems like a good time to bet on another high-scoring affair involving the Red Wings. The Islanders certainly aren’t the highest-event team in the league but their offence, led by the Brock Nelson line, has been really good lately and should have no trouble depositing a few pucks behind Thomas Greiss to help the cause.

Yaremchuk’s Picks
Yaremchuk’s Pick – Panthers/Oilers regulation parlay +160
I managed to go 1-1-1 yesterday but the one hit was the Bunting assist at +140, so it was a profitable night. Tonight, I’m going back to a bet that works pretty well for me: parlaying two big favourites to win in regulation. The Panthers are 7-2-1 in their last ten game and tonight they welcome Claude Giroux to the lineup. The Canadiens have lost three of their first four games on their current homestand and I don’t give them much of a shot tonight. The Oilers on the other hand only managed to get one point on their quick two-game road trip through Colorado and Dallas, but both of those games were basically one goal games. They’re back at Rogers Place tonight, where they’ve won five in a row. They’re facing a Sharks team that’s 4-4-2 in their last ten.
Yaremchuk’s Prop – Connor McDavid over 1.5 points (+110)
Connor McDavid has been on an absolute roll recently. He’s had multiple points in four of his last five games and seven of his last ten. The fact we’re getting plus money on this is great value. The Sharks have allowed 16 goals against in their last five games, which isn’t bad, but they have Kappo Kahkonen going between the pipes tonight and he allowed 19 goals against in his last five starts when he was with the Wild. Not great. The Oilers should produce tonight and I like McDavid to have yet another multi point game.
