Daily NHL betting guide: March 30

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets

New York Rangers (@ DET)

The Rangers are on the tail-end of a back-to-back with Alexandar Georgiev expected to start, but that’s built into the -140 number. The model sees this as a much more lopsided (-197) matchup and that’s enough to recommend a bet, even on no rest. The Red Wings have not played well in March, going 3-5-2 while being outscored 4.8 to 2.5 on average. Even if Georgiev is below-average, the Rangers should be able to provide him with enough goal support to secure the W.

1 Unit Bet: NYR -140

Arizona Coyotes (vs. SJS)

After going 4-1 (+5.33 units) on our first five recommended Arizona bets, things have gone sideways. We’re 0-3 in our last three and down 3.04 units. Arizona just isn’t playing well right now. They’ve lost six in a row while averaging just 1.5 goals per game. Until they re-discover the offence, we’re going to stay away.

Yaremchuk’s Picks

Yaremchuk’s Pick – Arizona vs San Jose over 6.0 (+100)

The Coyotes just gave up six goals to the Oilers earlier this week and they’ve seen the total hit at least six goals in four of their last five games. The Sharks have also had at least six total goals in four of their last five. I like the chances of this game going over and the number being set at an even six gives us the safety net of a potential push.

Yaremchuk’s Prop – Mark Scheifele over 0.5 assists (+100)

Scheifele just had just four-game assist streak snapped last game against Arizona but I like him to bounce back tonight. He’s hit this mark in eight of his last 12 games and has a total of 12 assists in that span. When you consider the fact that they’re playing the Buffalo Sabres tonight, the even-money payout here is great value.
