Daily NHL betting guide: March 8

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets

Arizona Coyotes (@ DET)

The Coyotes are coming off of an impressive 8-5 win over the Senators on Saturday and have won three of their last four games, including wins over Golden Knights and Avalanche. Their offence has woken up recently, averaging 3.6 goals per game in their last nine games. On Tuesday, they start a five-game road trip in Detroit, where they are +156 road underdogs. Detroit has lost four of their last five while giving up 5.4 goals against per game. The model still likes Detroit to win (-127) but there’s enough value on the Coyotes to warrant a bet tonight.

Yaremchuk’s Picks

YaremcYaremchuk’s Pick – Detroit in regulation vs Arizona (-115)

The Red Wings are coming off back-to-back losses on the road to the Lightning and Panthers but they are also welcoming back Jakob Vrana to the lineup tonight for their game against the Coyotes. The Red Wings are also at home where they have actually been a very good bet this season with a record fo 16-11-3. I like them to win this one. I’m also sticking with what works and parlaying St. Louis and Toronto in regulation at +130. The Kraken are an awful road team so Im not too worried about the Leafs playing in the second of back-to-backs. The Blues did not look good this weekend but they’re back on home ice tonight and they’ve been a fantastic home bet this season.

Yaremchuk’s Prop – Jordan Kyrou over 0.5 assists (+120)

Kyrou has been an assist machine as of late. He’s hit this mark in three straight games and six of his last seven games. The Blues have a pretty good matchup tonight against the Senators as well. While he does play on the Blues’ third line, he has played 17+ minutes in four straight games and he sees time on the top powerplay unit. After a perfect Monday night, let’s see if we can get a hot streak going!
