Daily NHL betting guide: November 1

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.
Last Week
The model sincerely apologizes for a tough week and is happy to be turning the page to November. Overall, we were 5-7 last week, going -4.01 Units. We were on the wrong side of Washington’s first loss of the season to Detroit on Wednesday and then Saturday put the final nail in the coffin for the week. The Jets inexplicably lost to a Sharks team without seven of their regulars and the Penguins seemingly got worse with Sidney Crosby? Some things can’t be explained. Anyways, we are looking to get back into the green this week.

Lines to Watch
Ottawa Senators (@ CHI)
The model isn’t recommending any action tonight but I think the Senators at +105 is interesting and a line to monitor throughout the day. The Blackhawks are still looking for their first win of the season (0-7-2) so it’s a little puzzling to me that they could be favorites in any matchup right now. While the Senators haven’t exactly lit the world on fire either, they are league-average in terms of xGF% (49.82) while Chicago is second-worst (42.85). Ottawa’s top line is starting to catch fire, while Chicago’s is likely still without Patrick Kane (COVID-19). Over the weekend, the Blackhawks were without Kane, Tyler Johnson, Henrik Borgstrom, Jujhar Khaira, Caleb Jones, Riley Stillman and Wyatt Kalynuk. Monitor DailyFaceoff throughout the afternoon, because if they are still short-handed tonight, the Senators are intriguing underdogs.
