Daily NHL betting guide: November 2

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets
Buffalo Sabres (@ SJS)
The model doesn’t see a lot of value on tonight’s nine-game slate, but one team it likes is the Buffalo Sabres in San Jose.
Buffalo was the NHL’s most surprising team in October and they could catch a nice break to start November. The Sharks were without a ton of regulars on Saturday, basically icing an AHL roster vs. the Jets due to COVID-19. They somehow managed to win that game, but it looks like they’re going to be shorthanded again. Of the seven players missing on Saturday, only Logan Couture was back at Monday’s practice, however, Kevin Labanc was added to the protocol list and is in danger of missing Tuesday’s game now.
Buffalo is no longer “the best defensive team in hockey” like they looked in their first few games, but they’re still pretty good. They are giving up the sixth-fewest Scoring Chances Against and 13th lowest Expected Goals Against/60 (2.16). Offensively, they are a little bit limited, but they still rank ahead of the Sharks in xGF, Scoring Chances For and High-Danger Chances for. So, the Sabres look like a pretty nice play at +140, especially if the Sharks are missing half of their team again.
1 Unit Bet: BUF +140
Proceed With Caution ⚠️
Vegas Golden Knights (@ TOR)
The model sees this as a toss-up game and sees value on the Golden Knights at +120. However, what it doesn’t see is that now they are expected to be without William Karlsson for the next six weeks. That means they could be without Karlsson, Max Pacioretty, Mark Stone, Alex Tuch, Mattias Janmark, Nolan Patrick and Zach Whitecloud. That is seven of their regulars. On the other side, Toronto is almost 100 percent healthy, so I don’t love this one.
