Daily NHL betting guide: November 20

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.
During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.
Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.
You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.
I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.
The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bet
Tampa Bay Lightning (vs. NJD)
Keep an eye on our Starting Goalies page before placing this bet. The Lightning have a Saturday/Sunday back-to-back. This is a bet if Andrei Vasilevskiy starts. Avoid it if Brian Elliott gets the nod on the front-end.
1 Unit Bet: TBL -216 (only if Vasilevskiy starts)
Washington Capitals (vs. SJS)
The Sharks have surprised a lot of people this year but the Capitals have been able to stay afloat while missing a lot of key forwards. They are still top-10 in xGF% (52.78) while the Sharks are 30th (44.95). On Saturday, the Capitals are expected to get T.J. Oshie and Nic Dowd back in the lineup, which will provide an offensive and defensive spark.
1 Unit Bet: WSH -125
Proceed with Caution ⚠️
Florida Panthers (vs. MIN)
The Panthers are 9-0-0 on home ice and both goaltenders are playing great. However, without Aleksander Barkov, this is a tough matchup. The Wild lead the NHL in xGF% (56.19). The Panthers are not far behind at 53.68%, which is good for fifth. Still, without Barkov, it’s a risky bet at -145.
Arizona Coyotes (vs. DET)
The Red Wings are on a bit of a losing skid but still… it’s the Coyotes. I’m not recommending them this year.
Vegas Golden Knights (vs. CBJ)
The Golden Knights have burned me a few times this season. They are hard to trust with all of the injuries and relying so much on Robin Lehner on a nightly basis. I’ve been avoiding them consistently, so I’m not going to change that vs. a Blue Jackets team that is fourth in the NHL in xGF/60 (2.60).
