Daily NHL betting guide – November 24

Tyler Yaremchuk’s Pick: Capitals in regulation (-125)

The Montreal Canadiens haven’t won back-to-back games yet this season and I don’t think that will change tonight. The Capitals have six regulation wins in their last ten games, which isn’t great by any means, but they’re playing good hockey right now. If they go with Ilya Samsonov between the pipes, then I like this play even more. They’ve won all six games that he’s started this season.

I thought about just going with a straight-up Money Line bet, but I think the Capitals are clearly the better team here and -125 for them to win in 60 minutes feels like a good play.

Tyler Yaremchuk’s Prop: John Carlson over 0.5 points (-150)

Not exactly the best payout, but Carlson has points in four of his last five games and like I said above, I think the Capitals will win tonight. Carlson is also a big part of the Capitals’ power play and while they have struggled this season, the Habs aren’t exactly very good on the penalty kill, sitting close to the bottom of the league in PK%.

I think the Capitals can pick up a few goals tonight and I like Carlson’s chances of being involved.

Brock Seguin’s Recommended Bets

Florida Panthers (vs. PHI)

The Panthers have not lost on home ice this season and catch a break on Wednesday with the Flyers coming in on the tail-end of a back-to-back and Martin Jones expecting to start. There’s a large disparity between xGF share between these two teams. Florida is fifth in the NHL (53.55%), while the Flyers sit 28th (46.44%). Philadelphia’s offense has been ice cold recently, averaging just 1.64 goals per game in their last 11 games (4-5-2).

Pittsburgh Penguins (vs. VAN)

Pittsburgh continues to be one of the best 5v5 teams in the NHL, ranking fifth in xGF (2.54) and eighth in xGA (2.09) to give them an xGF% of 54.87 (4th). They’ve also got great goaltending out of Tristan Jarry lately, posting a .970 SV% in his last four outings. Meanwhile, the Canucks continue to spin their wheels, losing 10 of their last 13 (3-9-1) while averaging just 2.16 goals for and 3.39 goals against.

Carolina Hurricanes (@ SEA)

Carolina is coming off a rare loss in San Jose, and Seattle finally got a good goaltending performance out of Philipp Grubauer. The sportsbooks continue to be believers in the Kraken, but the model views this as the second biggest mismatch on the slate (-258), so take advantage of the -150 line.
