Daily NHL betting guide: November 9

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Recommended Bets

Florida Panthers (@ NJD)

The Panthers are coming off of their first regulation loss of the season last night but they absolutely dominated the game at 5-on-5, nearly coming back and forcing overtime. Aleksander Barkov ended up playing and they could get Sergei Bobrovsky back tonight. Because of the back-to-back, PointsBet has the Panthers at -140 but the model considers them one of the largest favorites on the slate (-212). New Jersey has lost three of its last four and are 3-3-2 since Jack Hughes got hurt.

1 Unit Bet: FLA -140

Winnipeg Jets (vs. STL)

After a battle with COVID-19, the Jets are back to full health and should get Connor Hellebuyck back between the pipes on Tuesday. On the other side, the Blues have some COVID concerns of their own and could be without both Torey Krug (COVID-19) and Brayden Schenn (upper-body). After opening the season at 5-0-0, the Blues have lost three of their last five (2-2-1), while averaging just 2.40 goals per game. Winnipeg comes in as slight underdogs (-105) but the model has the Jets as -128 favorites, making them a bet in St. Louis.

1 Unit Bet: WPG -105

Proceed with Caution ⚠️

Vegas Golden Knights (vs. SEA)

Even though the model loves Vegas tonight, it still does not see that they are without Max Pacioretty, Mark Stone, William Karlsson, Nolan Patrick and obviously Jack Eichel. With so many injuries, it’s tough to gauge this team, even in a matchup vs. a Kraken team that just lost to the Arizona Coyotes. They could certainly win this game but it’s a risky bet with so much uncertainty surrounding their lineup.
