Daily NHL Betting Guide: October 25

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Last Week

We are coming off of a strong week, going 5-2. We were +2.39 units with a 34.14 percent ROI. On the season, we are 7-4, +1.79 Units with a 16.27 percent ROI. Let’s look to stay hot this week! We have two bets for this seven-game Monday slate.

Recommended Bets

Carolina Hurricanes (vs. TOR)

The Maple Leafs are coming off of a disastrous season outing in Pittsburgh over the weekend and have not dropped three in a row while getting outscored 14-to-5. Tonight they’re in Carolina, to face the undefeated Hurricanes. Even if the Maple Leafs have been snake bit so far–second in xGF/60 (2.94), 21st in GF/60 (1.88)–the sportsbooks still give them a 51.22 percent chance at winning tonight. The model likes Carolina a lot more, making them very valuable at -115.

1 unit bet: CAR -115

New York Rangers (vs. CGY)

The Rangers are expected to get Ryan Strome (COVID-19) back tonight, bolstering their top-6. Calgary is a one-line team right now, but that line has played very well. The Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk line has played extremely well but their other three lines have been getting destroyed. If the Rangers can limit the top line, they should be able to win their fifth straight game.

Igor Shesterkin is expected to be back between the pipes and he’s been exceptional so far. Leading the NHL in Goals Saved Above Average (5.5), he’ll give them a chance to win every night. New York is -136 on PointsBet but the model believes they are much bigger favourites (-167).

1 unit bet: NYR -136
