Capitals at Hurricanes | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Hurricanes -120 Favorites
The Hurricanes will try to beat the Capitals for the fifth straight time Friday when they host them for the second time in seven days in a key Metropolitan Division matchup at PNC Arena. Carolina is 2-0 versus Washington this season and has also won six of the past seven meetings dating back to last year’s first-round playoff series. The OVER is on a 4-1 run in the series as well. The Hurricanes have won two straight games overall following a three-game losing streak, with the OVER cashing in three of their last four.
Meanwhile, Washington has lost two games in a row after winning three of four, including a 6-4 setback at Carolina last Saturday as a +100 road underdog. The OVER is on a 3-1 run for the Capitals too, with a total of 10 goals scored twice during that stretch.
Red Wings at Stars | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Stars -290 Favorites
The Stars bring a three-game winning streak into this matchup with the Red Wings, who are coming off their first victory in seven games. Dallas defeated the Nashville Predators 4-2 in the Winter Classic on Wednesday at the Cotton Bowl as a -125 favorite, with the OVER cashing for the fifth time in six games. Before their hot streak, the Stars had lost three of four.
Detroit blanked the San Jose Sharks 2-0 on Tuesday as a +150 home underdog to snap a six-game losing streak. The UNDER has cashed in two straight for the Red Wings following a 4-1 OVER run, and they begin a two-game road trip at the American Airlines Center before visiting the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Detroit has surprisingly won two of the past three meetings with Dallas as a home underdog both times following a three-game series skid.
