Bruins vs Islanders | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Bruins -120 Odds
Boston and New York have each split their first two games, but the bigger concern for the latter is the condition of goaltender Semyon Varlamov, who did not start Saturday’s 5-0 loss. Varlamov took a puck to the neck for the Islanders during warm-ups against the Rangers and had earned his 28th career shutout in the previous game, a 4-0 victory on Thursday. The Bruins suffered their lone loss in overtime to the New Jersey Devils as -190 road favorites Saturday, with the total going UNDER for the second straight time. Boston has won nine of the past 10 meetings, and the UNDER is on a 6-0 run, also going 9-1-1 in the last 11.
Jets vs Maple Leafs | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Maple Leafs -150 Favorites
Toronto will be looking for its third win of the year after edging the Ottawa Senators 3-2 as a -210 road favorite Saturday. The Maple Leafs had split their first two games with goalie Frederik Andersen between the pipes but saw backup Jack Campbell stop 17 of 19 shots to beat the Senators in their most recent game. Meanwhile, Winnipeg has only played one game so far, topping the Calgary Flames 4-3 in overtime on Patrik Laine’s second goal Thursday to cash as a +100 home underdog. The Jets have lost three of the past four meetings and five of seven since winning eight of the previous nine in the series dating back to 2013.
Hurricanes vs Predators | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Predators -125 Favorites
Nashville hopes to move to 3-0 when the team hosts Carolina in a Central Division matchup. The Predators took care of business Saturday by completing a two-game sweep of the Columbus Blue Jackets, covering the puckline for the second straight time as well. The Hurricanes were not as lucky in a two-game trip to visit the Detroit Red Wings, leaving with a split following a 4-2 loss as -235 road chalk Saturday. But Carolina has dominated this series with Nashville recently, winning seven of the past eight meetings going back to 2016.
Sharks vs Blues | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Blues -150 Favorites
St. Louis will try to rebound from a bad loss in the first of consecutive games against San Jose at home. The Blues were blanked 8-0 by the Avalanche as +120 road underdogs Friday after upsetting them 4-1 as +130 dogs in their season opener Wednesday. The Sharks also split their first two against the Arizona Coyotes as road dogs both times. San Jose has lost five in a row versus St. Louis, with three of them taking place in the 2019 Western Conference Final.
Wild vs Ducks | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Wild -133 Favorites
Unbeaten Minnesota continues its stay in Southern California with the first of two straight games at winless Anaheim. The Wild just swept the Los Angeles Kings with a pair of 4-3 overtime wins, as new goalie Cam Talbot earned each victory by turning away 61 of 67 shots. The Ducks are still looking for their first win after blowing a late 1-0 lead against the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday, giving up the tying goal with 1:12 remaining in regulation and the winning score just seven seconds into overtime for a 2-1 loss. Anaheim has won the past three home meetings.
Canucks vs Flames | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Flames -138 Favorites
Calgary will try to beat Vancouver for the fifth time in six meetings and sweep its opponent in two games following an impressive 3-0 victory on Saturday. The Flames blanked the Canucks as -145 home favorites after losing their season opener 4-3 in overtime to the Winnipeg Jets as -120 road chalk last Thursday. Vancouver has lost two in a row since opening its campaign with a 5-3 upset win over the Edmonton Oilers as a +130 road underdog last Wednesday.
Canadiens vs Oilers | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Oilers -111 Favorites
Montreal hopes to continue its strong start by sweeping Edmonton in the second game of a two-game road series. The Canadiens won the first game 5-1 in a pick’em matchup Saturday behind two goals apiece from Jeff Petry and Tomas Tatar while goalie Carey Price also made 34 saves. The Oilers have dropped two of their first three – each by two goals or more – surrendering five in both of the losses, with goalie Mikko Koskinen starting all of them so far.
Coyotes vs Golden Knights | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Golden Knights -188 Favorites
Vegas will attempt to stay perfect in the first of four straight games against Arizona. The Golden Knights outscored the Ducks 7-3 in sweeping two games that saw goalies Robin Lehner and Marc-Andre Fleury alternate starts. That is still the plan in this spot, with Lehner most likely getting the call versus the Coyotes, who have lost the past two meetings since putting together a three-game series winning streak. The UNDER has also cashed in the last four meetings.
