Red Wings vs Lightning | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Lightning -333 Favorites

Tampa Bay wraps up a four-game homestand with the first of two against Detroit on Wednesday. The Lightning won the first two games of their homestand, beating the Nashville Predators by a combined score of 9-5, with the total going OVER the closing number of 5.5 each time. Meanwhile, the Red Wings are riding a season-high six-game skid into this matchup, going 0-4-2 during that stretch including a pair of overtime losses.

Detroit was just swept at home in two games versus the Florida Panthers by identical 3-2 scores, but the first was decided in OT. New goalie Thomas Greiss (0-5-2, 3.03 GAA) is still searching for his first victory with the Red Wings despite some solid work between the pipes after coming over from the New York Islanders in the offseason. Surprisingly, Greiss has not surrendered more than three goals in any of his seven games, although he has given up two or more each time.

Tampa Bay lost the last meeting with Detroit 5-4 in a shootout as a -300 road favorite on March 8 of last year, breaking a 16-game series winning streak dating back to April 19, 2016.

Bruins vs Flyers | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Bruins -111 Favorites

Boston has won five of its last six heading into the opener of a two-game set at Philadelphia to close out a four-game road trip. The Bruins have already defeated the Flyers twice this season, sweeping them in a two-game home series on January 21 and 23. That previous pair of games was very high-scoring, with each of them easily ending up OVER the total of 5.5. Boston is coming off another high-scoring series against the Washington Capitals too, splitting two games that averaged 7.5 goals, both of which finished OVER as well.

Philadelphia has won four games in a row since losing at TD Garden after closing as a favorite in all four. The first two took place on the road at New Jersey against the Devils, with the Flyers covering the puckline both times in a couple of two-goal wins. Philadelphia has gone 5-1 in its first six home games, with the lone loss taking place back on January 18, a 6-1 defeat to the Buffalo Sabres as a -150 favorite. The Flyers have lost three of the past four meetings following a four-game series winning streak.
