Blackhawks vs Hurricanes | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Hurricanes -172 Favorites
One of the hottest teams in the NHL will be a solid road underdog on Friday as Chicago visits Carolina for the first of two games. The Blackhawks have won six of their last seven games and seven of nine, including a split of two against the Hurricanes to start the month of February. One of Chicago’s two losses during that stretch was a 4-3 shootout defeat versus Carolina as a +150 home underdog on February 2, but the team rebounded to win the rematch 6-4 as a +160 underdog two days later at the United Center. The key for the Blackhawks lately has been great defense and goaltending, as they have limited opponents to two goals or less in five of their last six, with the UNDER going 5-1. The Hurricanes have gone 4-1-1 since last facing them, suffering a 4-3 overtime loss to the Panthers as -135 home favorites on Wednesday, with the OVER on a 4-0 run and also cashing in eight of their last nine going back to January 31.
Panthers vs Red Wings | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Panthers -167 Favorites
Florida has won four of its last five heading into the opener of a two-game series at Detroit. The Panthers are coming off a 4-3 overtime win against the Hurricanes as +115 road underdogs on Wednesday, with goaltender Chris Driedger (5-1-1, 2.39 GAA) picking up his second consecutive victory between the pipes in relief of Sergei Bobrovsky. Jonathan Huberdeau scored the game-winning goal in OT for Florida, his team-leading seventh overall, as the total went OVER in the team’s fourth straight game. The Red Wings have not been as fortunate recently, failing to generate much offense in losing four of their last five and 12 of 14. In fact, Detroit has scored two goals or less eight times in their past 10 games, resulting in eight losses and eight UNDERs. Detroit has also lost nine of the past 10 meetings in this series, with the UNDER on a 5-0 run, scoring two goals or less in four of those games dating back to 2020.
Oilers vs Flames | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Flames -142 Favorites
Edmonton and Calgary will meet for just the second time this year as they begin a home-and-home series here at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Flames topped the Oilers 6-4 as -130 home favorites in their lone matchup so far this season on February 6, rallying back from an early 2-1 deficit behind six different goal scorers. Calgary has gone 3-2 since then, with both losses decided by two goals or more. Edmonton has been better in winning four of five despite scoring more than three goals only once over that span, which happened in a 6-5 loss to Winnipeg as a -140 home favorite on Monday. The Oilers bounced back from that setback to the Jets though, beating them 3-2 as -140 home chalk on Wednesday, with the UNDER cashing for the fourth time in their last five games as well. But they have lost four of the past five meetings to the Flames, with the OVER on a 4-0 run and going 5-1-1 in the previous seven.
Jets vs Canucks | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Jets -112 Favorites
Vancouver will attempt to post back-to-back wins for the first time since putting together a four-game winning streak to end January when the team hosts Winnipeg for the first game of a two-game set. The Canucks are coming off a 5-1 rout of the Flames as +140 road underdogs on Wednesday behind three points from leading scorer Brock Boeser, who had two assists along with his 12th goal. Boeser ranks second in the NHL in goals scored behind only Auston Matthews of the Maple Leafs with 14. Vancouver had lost seven of its previous eight games. The Jets lost to the Canucks 4-1 as -125 home favorites in their lone meeting this year on January 30, and they have gone 4-3-1 in eight games since then, with all of the losses decided by one goal. The UNDER is also on a 5-1-1 run in the last seven for Winnipeg, which had won 10 in a row against Vancouver before the last meeting and 14 of the previous 15 in the series.
