Opening NHL Odds: Blues -140 Favorites
Vladimir Tarasenko had a pair of goals on Thursday night to lead the Blues to a 3-2 win over the Stars in the opener of this second-round series as -155 betting favorites at sportsbooks. Robby Fabbri had opened the scoring for St. Louis in that contest, with Jordan Binnington making 27 saves on 29 Dallas shots. Jason Spezza and Jamie Benn had the goals in the loss for the Stars, who were listed as +135 underdogs in the PUSH result on the OVER/UNDER.
The Blues have now won seven of their last nine games heading into Game 2 of this best-of-seven set, including a 4-2 series victory over the Jets in the first round of the playoffs. The Stars saw a three-game winning streak come to an end in Game 1, after they’d won the final three games of their first-round set with the Predators to pull off the series upset in six games.
Blue Jackets at Bruins | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Bruins -146 Favorites
Charlie Coyle scored his second goal of the game in overtime on Thursday night to give the Bruins a 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets as -150 favorites on the NHL odds in Game 1 of their second-round series. Noel Acciari scored shorthanded to stake the Bruins to a 1-0 lead in the first period on Thursday, while Tuukka Rask made 20 saves. Brandon Dubinsky and Pierre-Luc Dubois had the goals for Columbus, and Sergei Bobrovsky had 34 saves in the defeat.
Columbus had been listed as a +130 underdog on the road for Game 1, and suffered its first loss of the postseason after pulling off a four-game sweep of the Lightning in the first round. The Blue Jackets had won six games in a row heading into Game 1, and 11 of their past 12 contests. Boston has now won three straight games after topping the Maple Leafs in both Game 6 and Game 7 of their first-round meeting. Game 1 was an UNDER result on the totals.
