Penguins vs Islanders | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Penguins -122 Favorites

The goaltenders have become the story in this East Division first-round playoff series between Pittsburgh and New York. And not in a good way for the regular-season champion Penguins, who have been unable to solve Ilya Sorokin of the Islanders while their own goalie Tristan Jarry literally gave away Game 5 at home in a 3-2 double-overtime loss as -145 home favorites on Monday. Jarry stopped 25 of 28 shots and tried to get rid of the puck in the second OT, instead passing it directly to New York’s Josh Bailey for the game-winning goal. Meanwhile, Sorokin was stellar between the pipes yet again with 48 saves on 50 shots for his second straight victory since replacing Semyon Varlamov. Sorokin is 3-0 this postseason with a 1.60 GAA. The UNDER is 3-1 in the last four games of this series, and they have split the past six meetings at Nassau Coliseum, including Games 3 and 4 last Thursday and Saturday.

Panthers vs Lightning | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Lightning -143 Favorites

Florida will try to extend this Central Division first-round matchup to a Game 7 with a second consecutive win in Game 6 at Tampa Bay. The Panthers have won five of the past eight meetings with the defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning after an impressive 4-1 victory as -105 home underdogs in Game 5. Florida saw rookie goalie Spencer Knight step up in his first career postseason start with 36 saves on 37 Tampa Bay shots. The Lightning did have star winger Nikita Kucherov and defenseman Mikhail Sergachev on the ice after both left Game 4 with injuries, but neither player was able to make an impact in Game 5. The OVER cashed in the first two games at Tampa Bay, so bettors may see another high-scoring affair.

Golden Knights vs Wild | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Golden Knights -150 Favorites

Minnesota will also attempt to force a Game 7 against Vegas following the team’s second win at T-Mobile Arena in three tries on Monday. The Wild led the Golden Knights 3-1 at the end of the first period in Game 5 and cashed as +165 road underdogs in an eventual 4-2 upset victory despite recording a franchise-playoff record low 14 shots on goal. Vegas outshot Minnesota 23-1 in the second period alone but scored only one goal, and that ended up being the difference as Cam Talbot totaled 38 saves overall for the victors. The road team improved to 4-1 in this series, and the Wild won in regulation for the first time in 10 games dating back to the regular season. The Golden Knights have lost seven of the past 11 meetings but lead this series 3-2, and the UNDER has cashed in six of the last nine games between the teams.
