Islanders vs Bruins | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Bruins -208 Favorites

Boston made an early statement in Game 1 versus New York on Saturday and will try to go up 2-0 in Game 2 of their East Division second-round playoff series on Monday at TD Garden. The Bruins swarmed the Islanders in the third period en route to a 5-2 rout as -190 home favorites in the series opener for their fifth straight victory overall. David Pastrnak led the way for Boston with a hat trick while David Krejci added three assists, including two in the third when the team outscored New York 3-0.

The Islanders have now lost the past four meetings with the Bruins after winning the previous five in the series during the regular season. New York rookie goaltender Ilya Sorokin faced 17 more shots (39) than Boston counterpart Tuukka Rask and surrendered four of the goals before Taylor Hall scored the last as an empty-netter for the victors. The OVER improved to 4-2-2 in the past eight meetings between the teams as well.

Canadiens vs Maple Leafs | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Maple Leafs -208 Favorites

It all comes down to Game 7 for Toronto and Montreal as the teams meet one last time in this North Division first-round playoff series at Scotiabank Arena. The Maple Leafs rallied back for the second consecutive time to force overtime against the Canadiens in Game 6 but again fell short in a 3-2 loss as -210 road favorites on Saturday. Toronto had dropped Game 5 in similar fashion, coming back from a 3-0 deficit to tie it up at 3-3 before falling in OT as a -240 home favorite on Thursday.

Past postseason failures seem to be haunting the Maple Leafs right now, especially with all the pressure on them to advance to the next round for the first time since 2004. The Canadiens are the much looser team at this point with nothing really to lose, and they also have the better goaltender in former All-Star Carey Price, who was stellar in Game 6 with 41 saves. The good news for Price is that he has gotten seven total goals of support in the last two games after getting two combined in the previous three, which all resulted in losses.
