Canadiens vs Jets | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Jets -130 Favorites
Montreal will try to take a 2-0 lead on the road in Game 2 of this North Division second-round playoff matchup at Winnipeg. The Canadiens continued their hot run in the postseason with their fourth straight win as underdogs, cashing at +130 in Game 1 with a 5-3 win over the Jets. Montreal should be highly motivated in this spot after Winnipeg’s Mark Scheifele had a brutal hit on Jake Evans when he scored the last goal of the series opener on an empty-netter. Evans was carted away on a stretcher with Scheifele suspended four games for his actions.
The Jets had not played since May 24 after a sweep of the Oilers, and they looked rusty in trailing 2-0 a little more than five minutes into the game and 3-1 at the end of the first period. They have also been a streaky team over the past seven weeks, losing two games in a row and nine of 10 prior to their six-game winning streak that ended in Game 1. Still, the Canadiens have dropped seven of the past 11 meetings with that victory, and the OVER is currently on a 7-1 series run.
Avalanche vs Golden Knights | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Golden Knights -115 Favorites
Vegas is still looking for its first win versus Colorado in this West Division second-round playoff series but will be back home for Game 3 on Friday. The Golden Knights have never trailed a series 2-0 and will be counting on a full capacity crowd at T-Mobile Arena to help them earn their first victory against the Avalanche following a 3-2 overtime loss as +160 road underdogs in Game 2 on Wednesday. Colorado saw Mikko Rantanen capitalize on an early power-play opportunity that was called within the first minute of OT with the game-winner to beat Vegas, the team’s second extra-man goal.
The Avalanche are riding an NHL-best 11-game winning streak dating back to the regular season and have started the postseason with six consecutive victories, tying the franchise record from their days as the Quebec Nordiques. Colorado goaltender Philipp Grubauer made 39 saves too as Vegas improved its play dramatically from a series-opening 7-1 loss on Sunday. Marc-Andre Fleury gave the Golden Knights a chance to win with his performance between the pipes despite making only 22 saves, enabling the UNDER to move to 7-3 in the past 10 meetings and fall on exactly five goals for the fourth time.
