Bruins vs Islanders | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Bruins -135 Favorites
New York has put itself in position to clinch a series at home for the second consecutive time going into Game 6 of this East Division second-round matchup with Boston. The Islanders did the same thing in the first round against the Pittsburgh Penguins and took care of business with a 5-3 victory as -105 home underdogs after winning Game 5 on the road 3-2 as +125 dogs. This time around, New York upset Boston 5-4 as a +170 road dog in Game 5 on Monday and looks to advance to the NHL semifinal round with another win in what could still be the final game at Nassau Coliseum.
The Bruins hope it will be the finale in Long Island if they can pull off a victory here and then back home at TD Garden in a potential Game 7 on Friday. Boston will need to do a better job of staying out of the penalty box though, as head coach Bruce Cassidy was critical of the officiating in Game 5 and was fined $25,000 for his comments. New York scored three goals on four power-play opportunities in the latest game while chasing opposing goalie Tuukka Rask (four goals on 16 shots) and has done an excellent job in this series with the extra man to take over the lead for the first time.
The Bruins have dropped two straight games for the first time this postseason, and they have not lost at least three in a row since last postseason versus the Tampa Bay Lightning. The OVER is on a 3-1-1 series run and has gone 4-1-1 in the previous six games for the Islanders overall going back to the first round.
