Avalanche vs Golden Knights | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Golden Knights -140 Favorites

Vegas will look to win its fourth straight over Colorado and move on to the Stanley Cup semifinals on Thursday night in Game 6 of their West Division second-round playoff series at T-Mobile Arena. The Golden Knights rallied back for a 3-2 overtime victory against the Avalanche as +115 road underdogs in Game 5 on Tuesday thanks to captain Mark Stone’s game-winning goal less than one minute into the extra session. Vegas trailed 2-0 going into the third period but got its first goal from Alex Tuch at the 1:03 mark and then Jonathan Marchessault added his fifth in three games a little more than three minutes later to tie it up.

Colorado had an excellent opportunity to win it in OT as well only 10 seconds in but could not get the puck past goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who recovered nicely from giving up a bad goal to Brandon Saad in the closing seconds of the first period. Saad has scored the first goal in three of the five games so far and has seven overall this postseason after totaling 24 points (15 goals and nine assists) during the regular season.

The Golden Knights have closed out one opponent at home in their playoff history, the Minnesota Wild in Game 7 of this year’s first round after losing Game 5 in a similar situation. The Avalanche have not dropped four games in a row since January 14 of 2020, and they have won twice on the home ice of the Golden Knights this season (February 16 and May 10). The UNDER is 9-4 in the past 13 meetings, landing on five goals six times.
