Canadiens vs Golden Knights | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Golden Knights -222 Favorites
Vegas will look to take a 2-0 series lead to Montreal after Game 2 of their Stanley Cup semifinal matchup at T-Mobile Arena on Wednesday. The Golden Knights dominated the Canadiens 4-1 to end their seven-game winning streak in the series opener on Monday, cashing as large -270 favorites, with three of their goals coming from defensemen. Shea Theodore scored his first goal of the postseason, then Alex Martinez added his third and Nick Holden tallied his second in as many games to lead the blueliners for Vegas while winger Mattias Janmark found the back of the net as well.
Montreal got its only goal from 20-year-old rookie Cole Caufield while goaltender Carey Price helped keep his team competitive for the first half of the game and ended up with 26 saves on 30 shots. In addition, Price’s counterpart Marc-Andre Fleury continued his push for the Conn Smythe Trophy with 28 saves to earn his ninth victory of the playoffs. The Canadiens had won five of the previous six all-time meetings with the Golden Knights before Game 1, and the OVER had also gone 5-1 before staying UNDER the total. The UNDER is 3-1 in the last four games overall for Montreal though, cashing in seven of 10.
