Lightning vs Islanders | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Lightning -150 Favorites

Tampa Bay can move on to the Stanley Cup Final for the second season in a row by knocking out New York in Game 6 for the second year in a row on Wednesday night. This time around though, the defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning will try to advance on the home ice of the Islanders, who may be playing their last game ever at Nassau Coliseum if they do not win here.

Tampa Bay routed New York 8-0 as a -185 home favorite in Game 5 on Monday, getting a pair of goals from both Steven Stamkos and Alex Killorn while Brayden Point scored in his eighth straight game and goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy made 21 saves to earn his third shutout of the postseason. Vasilevskiy has posted shutouts the last two times the Lightning have eliminated their opponents during this year’s playoff run as well, but this would seem to be a tougher task with the Islanders fighting for survival at home with that building closing at the end of this season.

Tampa Bay has won 19 of the past 27 meetings (70 percent), including seven of the last 11 postseason meetings, scoring eight goals twice over that stretch at home. The OVER is 7-3-2 in New York’s last 12 games overall, going 2-2-2 in the team’s previous six at home.
