Islanders vs Lightning | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Lightning -170 Favorites

Tampa Bay and New York are headed to a Game 7 on Friday night at Amalie Arena, with a berth in the Stanley Cup Final on the line. The Lightning had an opportunity to eliminate the Islanders in Game 6 of this semifinal series for the second consecutive year but blew a 2-0 lead in a 3-2 overtime loss as -150 road favorites on Wednesday night at Nassau Coliseum.

New York saw Anthony Beauvillier score the game-winner in OT a little more than a minute into the extra session while Mathew Barzal assisted on the first two goals that tied it up. Tampa Bay also lost star winger Nikita Kucherov (NHL-best 27 points this postseason) to an undisclosed injury early in the first period, and his status for Game 7 is still up in the air.  Brayden Point did stay hot for the defending Stanley Cup champions despite the loss, scoring a goal in his ninth straight game.

The Lightning have still won 19 of the past 28 meetings, including seven of the last 12 in the playoffs. In addition, Tampa Bay has not lost two games in a row in the playoffs since 1986, winning the last 13 times off a defeat. Regarding the total, the OVER is 3-1 in the past four games for the Lightning at home and 5-1 in the previous six for the Islanders on the road.
