Canadiens vs Lightning | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Lightning -200 Favorites

Montreal hopes to even the Stanley Cup Final at 1-1 in Game 2 at Tampa Bay on Wednesday after getting blown out 5-1 in the opener on Monday. The defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning flexed their muscles in the third period of Game 1, outscoring the Canadiens 3-0 to turn a 2-1 lead into a rout and cash easily as -200 home favorites.

Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov showed no ill effects of an undisclosed injury that had some question his availability for Game 7 against the New York Islanders in the previous round, as he scored two goals and added an assist to join Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux as the only players to ever total 30-plus points in consecutive postseasons. Meanwhile, Kucherov’s teammate Brayden Point had three assists and goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 18 of 19 shots to earn the victory as the team’s other two Conn Smythe Trophy candidates.

Montreal goalie Carey Price surrendered all five goals and finished with 22 saves, and defenseman Ben Chiarot scored the club’s lone goal in the second period after trailing 2-0. The OVER also cashed for just the second time in seven meetings as the Lightning won for the 10th time in 11 games between them going back to 2018.
