Opening NHL Odds: Lightning -147 Favorites

Montreal returns home still trying for its first victory in the Stanley Cup Final since 1993 when the team hosts defending champion Tampa Bay in Game 3 on Friday. The Lightning scored the game-winning goal with two seconds left in the second period of Game 2 on Wednesday, going on to pick up a 3-1 victory as -200 home favorites despite getting outshot 43-23 by the Canadiens.

Tampa Bay goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy continued his charge towards earning the Conn Smythe Trophy as the postseason’s top performer with 42 saves between the pipes while Blake Coleman scored the game-winner and Anthony Cirelli and Ondrej Palat added goals.

Montreal is expected to have head coach Dominique Ducharme back on the bench though for Game 3 after being isolated since Game 3 against the Vegas Golden Knights in the last round due to COVID-19. The Canadiens had not lost consecutive games during their current playoff run since falling behind 3-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round. They have been outscored 8-2 in the first two games of this series, dropping 11 of the past 12 meetings now.

The UNDER has cashed in three of the last four games between the teams as well along with six of eight and 10 of 14 dating back to 2017. Montreal also has not won two straight meetings with Tampa Bay since reeling off a five-game series winning streak between 2015 and 2016.
