Lightning vs Canadiens | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Lightning -150 Favorites
Tampa Bay will try to complete the sweep of Montreal and hoist the Stanley Cup for the second year in a row after Game 4 on Monday. The Lightning doubled up the Canadiens 6-3 as -130 road favorites in Game 3 on Friday to move one victory away from becoming just the second repeat champion in 22 years, as Tyler Johnson scored two goals and Nikita Kucherov added a goal and an assist.
Montreal managed to outshoot Tampa Bay for the second consecutive game, but it was not enough to upset the defending champions in the team’s first Stanley Cup Final home game since 1993. Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has struggled mightily in this series, giving up 13 goals on 79 shots (.835 save percentage), including five in two of the first three games.
Meanwhile, Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy remains a favorite to win the Conn Smythe Trophy awarded to the top performer of the playoffs with 92 saves on 97 shots (.948 save percentage). Vasilevskiy has closed out each of the previous three rounds of the postseason with a shutout, and Tampa Bay has now won 12 of the past 13 meetings in this series and seven straight.
Montreal has not lost four games in a row since a five-game losing streak between May 5 and 12. Despite the OVER cashing in Game 3, the UNDER has still gone 6-3 in the previous nine meetings, with four goals or less scored five times, including Game 2.
