Stars vs Avalanche | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Avalanche -175 Favorites

The first second-round playoff series will begin in the Western Conference on Saturday when the Avalanche face the Stars as large favorites. Dallas won all four regular-season meetings with Colorado but lost the lone playoff matchup in round-robin play 4-0, so it will be interesting to see which one of those results carries through more in Game 1 and possibly throughout the series. The Stars rallied back from a 3-0 deficit in the first period of Game 6 on Thursday before blowing out the Calgary Flames 7-3 as -125 favorites to advance, putting together their third straight win after losing two of the first three in the series.

The Avalanche had a much easier time with the Arizona Coyotes, outscoring them 20-4 in their four wins and posting back-to-back 7-1 routs to close them out. Offensively, these two teams could not be in much better current form, although the UNDER is 7-0 in the past seven meetings between them. Getting started earlier might benefit Dallas too as the team looks to continue its momentum rather than taking too much extra time off between series. Colorado also just played on Wednesday and should not have that issue either, so the potential of each team staying hot offensively is definitely there.
