Islanders vs Flyers | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Flyers -138 Favorites
It’s do or die for the Flyers here in Game 5 of their series with the Islanders, who have closed as favorites in the last two after being underdogs in the first two. New York is coming of a 3-2 victory in Game 4 as -125 chalk on Sunday, scoring twice in the first 11:12 of the third period to go up 3-1 in the series. Playing on back-to-back days, the Islanders opted to go with Thomas Greiss between the pipes, and he made 36 saves for his first win of the postseason.
Philadelphia also gave backup Brian Elliott the nod in net, and he made 33 saves in the losing effort. Bettors should expect Carter Hart back for the Flyers opposite Semyon Varlamov, who has been one of the NHL’s best goalies during these playoffs. The UNDER is 4-0-1 in the last five wins for New York, so look for another low-scoring affair between these two teams.
Canucks vs Golden Knights | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Golden Knights -238 Favorites
The Golden Knights will try to knock out the Canucks in Game 5 of their series, with goalie Robin Lehner likely returning in the potential clincher. Lehner got Sunday off after posting two shutouts in the first three games, as Marc-Andre Fleury got the call in the second game of a back-to-back situation, and Vegas rallied for a 5-3 victory in the third period. The Golden Knights led 2-1 after the first but trailed 3-2 after the second before scoring three unanswered goals in the third. Those were the first lead changes of the entire series, and now Vancouver will look for some sort of spark with the season on the line.
Jacob Markstrom has been a rock for the Canucks throughout the series in goal, but he has been bombarded with an average of more than 35 shots per game, and the depth of their opponent has been the difference. The OVER is 6-0 in Vancouver’s last six wins, and the UNDER is 6-1 in the team’s past seven losses.
