Stars vs Avalanche | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Avalanche -141 Favorites

The Avalanche are finally playing like the team many expected going into a surprising Game 7 against the Stars on Friday. Colorado was one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup heading into this matchup with Dallas, but losing two goalies has seemingly woken the team up and gotten the players to step up their play defensively in front of third-stringer Michael Hutchinson. The Avalanche have outscored the Stars 10-4 in the last two games to tie the series after losing three of the first four by a 19-15 margin.

It is hard to predict what kind of tempo bettors will see here, with the first five games all going OVER the total before Colorado and Hutchinson shut Dallas down in a 4-1 victory as a -115 favorite in Game 6 on Wednesday. Hutchinson made 27 saves to outshine counterpart Anton Khudobin, who allowed three goals on 23 shots before being pulled for the extra man late in the game. Nathan MacKinnon (NHL-leading 25 points) capitalized on that move by scoring an empty-net goal to close out the scoring for the Avs.

Canucks vs Golden Knights | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Golden Knights -244 Favorites

How the mighty have fallen. Unlike the earlier Western Conference matchup, the Golden Knights were huge favorites going into their series with the Canucks and have choked up a 3-1 lead to see a Game 7. Vegas has not been able to solve Vancouver goalie Thatcher Demko, who has stopped 90-of-91 shots in two starts after replacing Jacob Markstrom in Game 5. Demko stepped in because Markstrom was deemed unfit to play, and he will have the tough task of playing back-to-back nights following a magnificent 48-save shutout in a 4-0 victory in Game 6 on Thursday.

The Canucks cashed as +200 underdogs for the second consecutive game, and they look to be in a comparable spot here despite winning the last two to tie the series. The Golden Knights are searching for answers and may go with Marc-Andre Fleury in net over Robin Lehner due to the back-to-back situation. Fleury is 13-2-2 in his last 17 starts against Vancouver without a regulation loss since 2006. Vegas has won eight of nine when playing the second game of a back-to-back compared to losing four of five for the opposition.
