Islanders vs Flyers | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Islanders -128 Favorites

The Eastern Conference will get its Game 7 on Saturday night when the Islanders take on the Flyers for a chance to face the Lightning in the conference finals. Philadelphia has shown a lot of heart and determination in evening this series after trailing 3-1 through the first four games. The Flyers have earned all three of their wins in overtime, including a double-OT thriller 5-4 as +115 underdogs on Thursday. They led 2-0 in the first period and then trailed 3-2 and 4-3 in the third before forcing the extra session on Scott Laughton’s fifth goal of the postseason at the 9:53 mark. Then Ivan Provorov won it for Philadelphia at 15:03 of the second OT to force Game 7, with goaltender Carter Hart also coming up big with 49 saves.

New York head coach Barry Trotz decided to start goalie Semyon Varlamov, and he has surrendered nine goals on 63 shots in losing the last two games. Trotz could decide to go with Thomas Greiss here since he is more rested and made 36 saves in the team’s last victory, 3-2 in Game 4 as a -125 favorite. In fact, the Islanders have closed as favorites in each of the last four games, with the OVER cashing in the past two. The UNDER is 4-0-1 in New York’s previous five wins while the OVER is 3-0-1 in the last four for Philadelphia.
