DailyFaceoff/Corsica NHL Bets (February 4th)

The Corsica NHL betting predictions closed out a strong week with another respectable performance on Friday. Corsica missed on its high-value bet but salvaged the night by nailing the most probable on the slate. The under for the Penguins and Senators was pegged to be the most valuable bet. The bet looked promising early on, but a four-goal third period ended any chance Corsica had at a perfect night. Chicago and their red-hot power-play were the underdogs against the Sabres on the road. Corsica had them covering the +1.5-goal spread as the most likely bet on the slate. Chicago got off to a 3-0 lead early on and never looked back, besting Buffalo by a score of 7-3.

With four games on tap tonight, there are plenty of spots to like. I’ve highlighted Corsica’s most valuable and probable bets below. You can find predictions for all of tonight’s games here. Good luck!

Highest Value

Ducks @ Maple Leafs – Spread | ANA +1.5 (-109)

Corsica has found success in playing the under all season, and the oddsmakers are starting to catch on. None of the over/unders for tonight’s games are set above six goals, so Corsica is looking elsewhere for value tonight. It’s far from the safest bet on the slate, but at -109, you’re getting tremendous value on taking the Ducks to cover tonight.

The Ducks are finally getting healthy and their offense should start to improve as a result. Corey Perry made his season debut in Winnipeg on Friday after having knee surgery in late September. His return should provide a major boost to a Ducks’ top line that’s struggled in his absence. Rickard Rakell and Ryan Getzlaf have posted a 49.75 CF% and a 48.71 SCF% at 5v5 this season. Having Perry back on their right wing should help them maintain possession and generate more meaningful shot attempts. Rakell, Getzlaf, and Perry rocked a 53.57 CF% and a 55.90 SCF% in almost 500 minutes together last season. They have all the tools necessary to go blow-for-blow with the John Tavares line tonight.

Obviously, the Ducks’ best hope for winning on any given night is John Gibson. Gibson’s performance this season has singlehandedly kept the Ducks in the playoff hunt. He’s posted a .916 SV% and has managed to keep a respectable 2.86 GAA despite facing more shots than any other goalie in the league.

Highest Probability

Kings @ Rangers – Spread | LAK +1.5 (-227)

Corsica actually has the Kings as the slight favourite in this one, giving them a 50.22% chance of winning the game outright. The key to victory for the Kings tonight will be keeping the Rangers’ top line in check. Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad, and Mats Zuccarello are arguably the hottest line in the NHL right now. They’ve combined for a ridiculous 34 points over the Rangers’ last seven games. They routinely face the opposition’s best on home ice, so look for them to be matched up against the Anze Kopitar line tonight. Los Angeles’ top line has struggled to create offense this season, but they are defensively sound. Kopitar, Dustin Brown, and Alex Iafallo are surrendering just 25 scoring chances per 60 at 5v5. If they can maintain the Zibanejad line, the Kings’ depth should be able to outproduce that of the Rangers.

The depth upfront is really where this game starts to tilt into the Kings’ favour. Their second and third lines have done an admirable job of controlling the puck and generating offense all season. Jeff Carter and Tyler Toffoli make up a respectable second line for Los Angeles. They should be able to get the better of Kevin Hayes tonight, who has next to nothing to skate with on the Rangers’ second line. Adrian Kempe has proven himself to be a competent two-way forward this season. His matchup with the Ryan Strome line projects to be the most lopsided one in this game. Lines centered by Strome have really struggled defensively this season. They should be exposed by the more disciplined Kempe line tonight. Corsica gives the Kings a 74.29% chance of covering the spread, making it the safest bet on the slate.
